About Roger Held
Roger received his formal music training at Houghton College (NY) and has over fifty years experience as a professional pianist, organist, vocalist, composer, arranger, and piano teacher. He has orchestrated and produced several of his own CD's, including a short promo, which is free upon request. Roger is also able to tune and repair any piano upon which he performs, and has maintained a very successful career as a piano technician throughout both Pennsylvania and New York's Tri-City area. He is presently the resident tuner for the Hart and Swyer theaters at the EGG in Albany.
For over fifteen years Roger entertained each weekend at the historic Riverside Inn, in Cambridge Springs, PA, as well as numerous other clubs in northwestern PA. Most recently, for eight years he was the house pianist three nights weekly at 677 Prime in Albany. He has also played regularly at Albany's Provence Restaurant, Schenectady's Stockade Inn, and The Wishing Well in Wilton, as well as intermittently in other area restaurants and clubs.
In addition to entertaining for weddings, anniversary parties, birthday celebrations, holiday gatherings, and graduations, and serving as a professional accompanist for choruses, soloists, and musical productions, the success of his many keyboard students is further testimony of his musicianship. Also equally at home on the finest of pipe organs, Roger is truly an “entertainer extraordinaire!” Whether it's Modern Jazz, Easy Rock, Golden Oldies, Broadway Showtunes, Sinatra Favorites, or Light Classics – Roger's easy and melodious piano style and velvety vocals will leave your favorite melodies lingering long after the evening ends.
